What You Will Learn in This Course
The Intermediate/Standard First Aid Training in Surrey is a comprehensive 16-hour training program delivered over two consecutive days at Mainland Safety's Surrey campus. Certified by the Canadian Red Cross, this course covers everything in Basic/Emergency First Aid plus advanced topics including head and spinal injury management, bone and joint injuries, chest and abdominal emergencies, safe patient movement, environmental emergencies like hypothermia and heat stroke, poisoning, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and multi-casualty incident management.
Previously known as Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C, the program has been renamed Intermediate/Standard First Aid under the CSA Z1210 national standard. You will practise CPR and AED on professional manikins and build skills through realistic scenario-based exercises. This course is also recognized by WorkSafeBC as equivalent to OFA Level 2. Your Canadian Red Cross Intermediate First Aid certification is valid for three years. To pass, you must demonstrate all skills and achieve at least 75 percent on the written evaluation.
Who Should Take This Course
Intermediate/Standard First Aid in Surrey is the most comprehensive general first aid course offered by the Canadian Red Cross, commonly required for designated workplace first aid attendants in medium-to-high-risk environments. Construction companies in South Surrey, Clayton, and Campbell Heights need attendants with this certification on active job sites. Manufacturing, food processing, healthcare, and long-term care facilities across Surrey require staff with this level of training.
Schools, daycares, recreation centres, and community organizations throughout the Surrey School District regularly need staff with Intermediate/Standard First Aid certification. This course is equally valuable for parents and caregivers who want the most complete first aid education available. No previous experience is required — Mainland Safety welcomes beginners and covers all foundational skills during the two-day program.
