Fall Protection Training
Fall Protection Training in Surrey, Guildford, Vancouver & Burnaby
Mainland Safety delivers WorkSafeBC-compliant Fall Protection training for workers, supervisors, and employers across Surrey, Guildford, Vancouver, Burnaby, and the rest of the Lower Mainland. Whether you work in residential roofing in Cloverdale, high-rise construction in Downtown Vancouver, tilt-up panel work in Burnaby, or warehouse racking in Guildford, our hands-on course gives you the knowledge and certification to work safely at heights and keep your job sites compliant with WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation Part 11.
Falls from elevation remain the leading cause of serious workplace injuries and fatalities in British Columbia construction. Our training is built around real Lower Mainland job-site conditions — wet weather, pitched roofs, scaffolds, leading edges, and confined access points — so you leave the classroom ready to apply what you learned the next day. Call +1-604-617-0211 or email info@mainlandsafety.ca to register. Morning, evening, and weekend seats are available at our Surrey and Guildford training centres.
Who Needs Fall Protection Certification?
Under WorkSafeBC, every worker exposed to a fall of 3 metres (10 feet) or more — or any fall that could result in injury, regardless of height — must be trained in fall protection before starting work. This applies whether you're an employee, a sub-contractor, or a self-employed tradesperson. The course is essential for roofers, framers, finishing carpenters, residential and commercial construction workers, HVAC and sheet metal installers, electricians, solar panel installers, window cleaners, painters, exterior cladding crews, telecommunications and tower technicians, warehouse workers using elevated racking or mezzanines, arborists, sign installers, crane riggers, supervisors and foremen responsible for workers at height, and health and safety committee members. If you're unsure whether your role requires certification, call us — we'll help you confirm based on your scope of work.
What You'll Learn
Our Fall Protection course blends classroom instruction with hands-on equipment practice. You'll cover hazard identification on residential, commercial, and industrial sites, plus the WorkSafeBC regulations under Part 11 and supporting OHSR sections. We walk through the hierarchy of controls — elimination, guardrails, travel restraint, fall restraint, fall arrest, and control zones — then move into the components of a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS) including anchors, full-body harnesses, lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, and connectors.
You'll learn how to inspect and care for your equipment using pre-use checks, removal-from-service criteria, and CSA standards. We cover anchor selection for engineered, permanent, and temporary anchors; swing fall, free fall, and clearance calculations using real job-site scenarios; and how to properly don and adjust a full-body harness. The course finishes with suspension trauma awareness, rescue planning, and a combined written and practical evaluation to earn your certificate.
Course Length & Format Options
We offer two formats so you can pick the one that fits your role and budget. Our 4-Hour Fall Protection Awareness course is a condensed half-day session for workers who need a fast refresher or whose exposure to heights is limited — ideal for general labourers, warehouse staff, and crews where the primary controls are guardrails or restraint. Our 8-Hour Fall Protection (Full Day) program is the comprehensive option, recommended for roofers, framers, and anyone using a Personal Fall Arrest System on a regular basis. It includes extended hands-on harness fit, anchor selection, clearance calculations, and rescue planning. Need a custom on-site session for your crew? We bring training to job sites and yards across the Lower Mainland. Call +1-604-617-0211 for group pricing.
