FAQs and Exam Procedure After Course Completion at Mainland Safety
Course Completion Process:
- Upon completing the course, Mainland Safety will forward all necessary details to JIBC on the last day of your class instructions.
- Participants will then receive an email from JIBC prompting them to select their preferred date and time for the upcoming exam.
Confirmation and Timeline:
- After Mainland Safety submits participant details to JIBC, individuals will receive an email from JIBC to confirm their JIBC registration. This email will also include the JIBC Student User ID.
- Participants can expect JIBC to contact them within 3 to 5 business days.
User Account Information:
- User ID and password details will be provided in the confirmation email. If the password is not visible, participants can reset it by clicking on the “Forgot Password” link.

Exam Booking and Confirmation:
- Participants can book their exam online and will receive an email from JIBC confirming the exam booking details 24 hours prior to the exam. The exam window spans at least 8 hours.

Exam and Licensing Fees:
- JIBC Exam Fee: $60.71 (Pay online during exam booking).
- Fingerprint Fee: $85 (Mainland Safety can arrange fingerprints for participants).
- 1-year Security License Fee: $120 (Payable to the Ministry of Justice). Apply for a license at https://justice.gov.bc.ca/security/worker/newapplication.do
Technical Requirements:
- Ensure the following technical requirements are met:
- Access to a computer (tablet not compatible).
- Google Chrome with the Proctorio Chrome extension installed.
- Internal or external microphone.
- Webcam (320×240 VGA minimum).
- Minimum bandwidth of 0.244 Mbps (0.664 Mbps recommended).
- Free disk space of 250MB & free RAM of 2 GB.

Exam Day Guidelines:
- The exam will be monitored and reviewed before certificates are issued.
- Participants will be required to scan the exam room to ensure its integrity.
- This is not an open-book test; no reference materials, phones, or other devices are permitted.
- No one is allowed in the exam room unless previously approved for a group exam.
- Audio is recorded and monitored; participants should refrain from speaking with anyone during the exam.
- The exam must be conducted in English; no translation services are allowed.
- Participants are not permitted to leave the exam room once the exam begins.
