Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C (In class)- Equivalent to Basic First Aid (Earlier OFA Level 1)

Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Meets federal and a variety of provincial/territorial regulations for Standard First Aid and CPR.

Certification Procedure

After successfully completion of in class program/training, Mainland Safety training company will submit all the details to Canadian Red Cross instructor/training partner portal with in 72 hours of completion of course.

Participant’s will get their certificates directly from Canadian Red Cross through the email address provided by participant during their training session.

Equivalencies

Starting from March 2025, Canadian Red Cross – Standard First Aid is equivalent to WorkSafe BC – Intermediate First Aid.

Similarly, the Canadian Red Cross Also has Standard First Aid in Blended Format – 8 hours online, 8 hours in Class, you can Finish the course in 1 Day

1. What are the class hours for Standard First Aid?
This course is a two-day, 16-hour program that is 8 hours each day.
2. Are late arrivals acceptable?
Late arrivals are not acceptable under any circumstances. You should arrive in class at least 15 minutes before the start time to fill out paperwork.
3. How many questions are in the exam?
There are 30 questions in the exam.
4. What is the passing percentage?
To pass the exam, you need to get 75%.

7. Are there age requirements to Standard First Aid?
You must be at least 16 years old.
8. Do I need any experience prior to taking Standard First Aid?
No prior experience is necessary as this course is designed for beginners.

10. Can I bring pets to Standard First Aid?

Under no circumstances should there be pets in the classroom. Exceptions are only made for certified service dogs.
11. Can I leave the training early?
No, to receive your certification, you must complete the full 8-hour course.
12. Can I leave the classroom for 30 minutes and come back to continue the class?
No, to receive your certification, you must complete the full 8-hour course.
13. What happens if I miss the class or don’t ask for a refund in time?
If you miss the class or fail to ask for a refund in a timely manner, you will not be able to get a refund of any kind, meaning you will pay the full price.
14. What is the refund policy?
You can cancel or reschedule a minimum of 5 business days prior to the course. For this you can contact us via email: [email protected] or by phone: (604) 617-0211. Business days exclude all statutory holidays in British Columbia and weekends.
15. Is there a fee for refunds even if I request one 5 business days before?
Yes, all refunds are subject to an administrative fee equal to 5% of the course’s face value.
16. Will I receive a certificate upon completing the course?
Yes, you will be issued a certificate if you fully complete and pass the course.
17. How long is the certification for Standard First Aid valid for?
The certification for Standard First Aid is valid for 3 years from the date of completion. After 3 years you will need to retake the full course to get recertified or take a renewal course.
18. Can I take a renewal class after my certificate expires?
There are no renewal courses available for Standard First Aid at Mainland Safety. To receive a new certificate a student must retake and pass the entire course, or its equivalent.
19. Can I take Standard First Aid online?
No, we only offer in person classes at Mainland Safety.
20. Do I need to bring anything to the course?
Just yourself and one government issued picture ID.
21. Is Standard First Aid recognized outside of BC?
Yes, the Standard First Aid certification is recognized throughout Canada.

22. What is the equivalent certification to Standard First Aid?

Intermediate First Aid is the equivalent certification, but First Responder (EMA FR) could be considered equal as well. See here for more details.
23. What language is this course taught in?
This course is taught exclusively in English.
24. Are there prerequisites to this class?
