Certification Procedure

After successfully completing the in-class program/training, the Mainland Safety training company will submit all the details to the Canadian Red Cross instructor/training partner portal within 72 hours of completion of the course.

Participants will get their certificates directly from the Canadian Red Cross through the email address provided by the participant during their training session.

Equivalencies

Starting from March 2025, Canadian Red Cross – Emergency First Aid is equivalent to WorkSafe BC – Basic First Aid.

Similarly, the Canadian Red Cross Also has Emergency First Aid in Blended Format – 4 hours online, 4 hours in Class, you can Finish the course in Half a Day

  1. What are the class hours for Emergency First Aid?

This course is 8-hours long.

  1. Are late arrivals acceptable?

Late arrivals are not accepted under any circumstances. You should arrive in class 15 minutes before the start time to fill out paperwork.

  1. How many questions are in the exam?

There are 20 questions in the exam.

  1. What is the passing percentage?

To pass the exam, you need to get 75%.

You must be at least 16 years old.

No prior experience is necessary for EFA.

Under no circumstances should there be pets in the classroom. Exceptions are only made for certified service dogs.

No, to receive your certification, you must complete the full 8-hour course.

No, to receive your certification, you must complete the full 8-hour course.

  1. What happens if I miss the class or don’t ask for a refund in time?

If you miss the class or don’t ask for a refund in a timely manner, you will not be able to get a refund of any kind.

  1. What is the refund policy?

  1. Is there a fee for refunds even if I request one in a timely manner?

Yes, all refunds are subject to an administrative fee equal to 5% of the courses face value.

  1. Will I receive a certificate upon completing the course?

Yes, you will be issued a certificate if you complete and pass the course.

  1. How long is the certification for Emergency First Aid valid for?

The certification for Emergency First Aid is valid for 3 years from the date of completion. After 3 years you will need to retake the full course to get recertified or take a renewal course.

  1. Can I take a renewal class after my certificate expires?

There are no renewal courses available for Emergency First Aid at Mainland Safety. To receive a new certificate a student must retake and pass the entire course, or its equivalent.

  1. Can I take Emergency First Aid online?

No, we only offer in person classes at Mainland Safety.

  1. Do I need to bring anything to the course?

Just yourself and one government issued picture ID.

  1. Is Emergency First Aid recognized outside of BC?

Yes, Emergency First Aid certification is valid throughout Canada.
